Websites
........................................................................................................

"Websites", are the key to getting your business up and running and making your brand (i.e. your name or your business name) on the internet and getting it noticed.  Websites can range from one page to thousands of pages, depending on how big your business is.  As a beginner it is best to start out small and then as your business grows and expands you can add more pages to your website.

Some say you can make a living without a website at all and I am sure it can be done.  Myself I believe that most consumers want to see what they are buying and have options.  If you are just telling your customer about a product in an email, you are leaving the field wide open for them to go somewhere else that does have a website up and running, where they can see the product.

So what do you do if you have never created a website before and you have no money to invest in the beginning?  There are plenty of options that you can take advantage of and in the meantime you will be learning as you are testing your ideas, niches and keywords.

The standard protocol for many websites is "html" which stands for "HyperText Markup Language" that is used for formatting and displaying your websites on the internet.  I don't know how to write "html" from scratch but I can edit, add and delete some "html" needed for my web pages.  It is a good idea to try and make yourself familiar with some of the "html codes".  A good place to find this information is: Learn the Basic HTML Tags!

There are numerous "free websites" that you can use to get a website up and running without any cost but there is a downside to using a free website.  In fact, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) probably offers free web space for you with your account.  In exchange for using their free services, they are allowed to advertise on your page.  There is a good chance that the advertising will be competing against you or displaying ads that having nothing to do with your website content. This is not good.

I have used free websites in the beginning when I had no choice and in fact I still have one up and running now and it has brought in sales but I now have it directed to a paid website.  A dedicated website shows your customers that you are serious about your business enough to pay for a website with its own unique name.

I know I can sometimes get long-winded but I want to make sure you are aware of all options that you have when starting out.  See Website Options for a list that you can choose from.

Website Editors and Software
........................................................................................................

Website editors, html editors and software is what you will need to create your website.  Free websites usually provide a website builder for you.  The easiest website creators to work with on your own are what they call "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get).  These types of editors usually add a lot of additional code that is not needed but again if you are not familiar with "html" at least it will get your website up and running quickly and later on down the road you can redo your website.

Again there are a lot of free editors out there that you can work with but some of them also add their advertising to your pages.  If you are on a strict budget, you have to decide what are the benefits and alternatives and how they will affect your business.  I have provided a list of options that you can pick from to start with and have explained the "benefits and alternatives" to each of them: See Website Editors, Domain and Hosting

Website Domains and Hosting
........................................................................................................

When it comes to the time that you are able to afford to advance your business and your website, it's time to think about a name for your site and who will host your website.  Again there are many companies out there that offer domain name purchasing and hosting.  Do your research and decide what is within your budget.  There is absolutely NO REASON for anyone to pay more than you have to for a domain name and good reliable hosting for your website.  I have also included my recommendations for domain purchasing and hosting at Website Editors, Domain and Hosting

Now that you have read through all of the information I have provided and thought about what will work for you at this particular time, let's look through the list and see what will work for you:  Website Options and Website Editors, Domain and Hosting
